Babies who look like celebrities - see them here!
Categories: Babies, Fun & activities, Weird stories
Every parent thinks their baby is beautiful, right? Well, not the parent who thinks their child looks like Gollum!
Mums and dads from across the country have been entering their babies in a celebrity look-a-like competition.
Finalists include tots who look like Elton John, Mr T, Britain's Got Talent Star Susan Boyle – and the sly, slimy creature from Lord of the Rings, Gollum.
Some parents have dressed their kids up, with a beehived mini "Amy Winehouse" and a guitar-strumming "Kurt Cobain".
There's also a Phil Mitchell, which seems like cheating. Most newborns look like Phil Mitchell.
Other finalists include former spice girls Mel B and Emma Bunton, and Tom Cruise's daughter Suri.
This is a brilliant idea. It's always fun to mock strange-looking babies.
Although I do feel a bit sorry for the kid who's got to go through the rest of his life being told "you looked like Gollum when you were a baby".
My husband reckons his niece looked like Shrek when she was tiny. One of my friends thought her baby looked like Verne Troyer (Mini-Me from Austin Powers) when he was born.
They didn't enter the children in national competitions. But maybe that was just because they hadn't thought of it...
The "Celebritots" competition attracted hundreds of entries and is hosted by BabyTV, a 24-hour, advert-free channel for babies, toddlers and parents.
Judges from BabyTV and babyworld.co.uk will announce an overall winner from the ten finalists later in July, with the winning parents receiving a cheque for £500 and the chance for their little lookalike to be featured on BabyTV.
If you missed out on this competition, all is not lost. Does your baby look like someone famous? Send your pictures to parentdishUK@googlemail.com
Here are some more pictures of the finalists:

The ten BabyTV Celebritots finalists are as follows:
Phil Mitchell – Leo Goodman, Andover, Hampshire
Amy Winehouse – Izzy Mee, London
Baby Spice – Daisy Woodger, Watford
Elton John – Matilda Gant, Enfield
Gollum – Corrie Jane Mack, Paisley, Glasgow
Kurt Cobain - Darcey Jenkins, Hemel Hempstead
Mr T – Poppy Topliss, Gosport, Hampshire
Scary Spice – Layo Tetede, Dagenham, Essex
Suri Cruise – Kiera Peters, Milton Keynes
Susan Boyle – Lily Boole, London

I am the parent of the 'sly, slimy creature" Gollum.
I am so angry and upset by this post as everyone who knows us knows that our daughter is THE most beautiful baby ever and looks nothing like Gollum however the position she was in and the cheeky face she had on made us think of this. There was no evil underlying cruelty by putting her forward for this comp. We actually thought she looked seriously cute int he photo and so do 99% of the peopIe who have seen it. I see you have a child of your own. Maybe you should consider your comments before writing them.

So basically you've entered your daughter into a competition because she pulled a pose like Gollum and now you're upset that someone finds that amusing?
How ridiculously over-sensitive.
Of course your child is a sweetie, and I don't think anyone reading this is going to think otherwise.
It's a bit of fun - I assume that's why you entered the competition in the first place.
Get over yourself.

Seriously Jenni - how can you possibly be offended at this?
You entered your child into a competition because she pulled a pose that looked like Gollum - one assumes you did this as it was a bit of fun.
Now you're getting upset because people find it funny.
Don't you think you're being a little over-sensitive here?
Nobody is saying your child is ugly - if anything people will think just the opposite - she looks like a real sweetie.
You really need to stop taking life so seriously and enjoy the baby while she's still young.
I really can't see that this is going to hurt her feelings.

Amanda,
I DID indeed enter her for a bit of fun but just found the wording in this post quite offensive.
I - like you and everyone else - am entitled to my own opinion and I didnt like this article at all.
I DO enjoy my baby and clearly from entering her in this comp DO NOT take life too seriously, however I don't appreciate coming onto something like this page which thinks the comp is about "mocking strange-looking babies". It is the wording I don't like. Surely you can understand people being slightly sensitive when instead of the fun intended people talk about a "sly, slimy creature"??

Can I just clarify something please? Gollum IS a sly, slimy creature. Have you read the books? Your daughter, clearly, is not. I don't think she looks anything like Gollum - even in the photograph which you entered in the competition. She's lovely.

Yes I've read the books.
It was the opening line of your story that hit a real nerve Jenny.
"Every parent thinks their baby is beautiful, right? Well, not the parent who thinks their child looks like Gollum!"
Anyway, it doesn't even matter.
Like Amanda said, it's all in fun, but your wording just hurt a bit!

Jenni, I appreciate we mothers can be sensitive about our babies, but I have to say I still think you're over-reacting.
The "slimy, sly" thing is how Gollum is described in the book, I honestly don't think anyone will read it as the writer saying your baby is like that.
If I was the parent of any of these kids, I'd be happy for them to feature in such an article, and happy for people to have a chuckle at their expense.
My own baby is beautiful and doesn't really look like anyone - apart form the obvious Winston Churchill comparisons at times - but she pulls plenty of funny poses in photographs.
If someone wants to compare her to Godzilla it really is no skin off my nose.

Whether this was a bit of fun or not, anyone putting their child on the internet is putting themselves & their child out there for opinions to be voiced & not all of them you will like. No point getting upset about it. But seriously, keep your babies safe & to yourselves... is nothing sacred anymore?
