Baby survives being run over by a train

A baby has miraculously survived after his pram rolled off a railway platform in front of a train.
The six-month-old baby boy had only a cut to his head after the accident in Melbourne, Australia.
The train was slowing down as it came into the station but dragged the baby's pram about 35 yards along the tracks before coming to a halt.
Watch this CCTV video and you will be amazed he survived at all.
Paramedic Jon Wright told the Herald Sun newspaper the baby was fine afterwards and just "needed a feed and a nap".
He said: "Luckily, he was strapped into his pram at the time, which probably saved his life. I think the child's extremely lucky."
The video shows how easily such an incident could happen, as the mum takes her hands off the pram for just a moment, having forgotten to put the brakes on.
The pram then rolls towards the edge of the platform with the mother unable to grab it. She watches in horror as it falls in front of the train.
Any parent can only imagine how that poor woman must have felt as she stood there helplessly. She must be thanking her lucky stars for every minute for the rest of her life that her son was unharmed.
The rail firm Connex is launching an investigation into how the pram rolled off the platform.
Coincidentally, the day before the accident happened, Connex had launched a child safety awareness campaign warning parents to keep children strapped into their prams at all times when on railway platforms.

I am really pleased I saw the baby was ok before I watched that.
I cannot imagine what that mum must have been going through in that first minute.

I have never left my children in a pram without the brakes on while by a platform...

Why on earth aren't the platforms raised slightly towards the edge, so that wheeled carriers wouldn't roll forwards? Duh?

does anyone else see the dark shadow darting from one side to the other until it stops right in front of the train as the pram falls.

Oh my word! I am in tears watching that. No doubt everyone thought that the baby would be dead after the fall alone, but then the train going over it! Thank God the baby survived with only a cut to the head.

omg, that was unbelievable. What was the woman doing when the pram started to drift off in the direction of the platform, thankfully though the baby survived.

If the mother had been paying more attention to her baby than her clothing then she wouldnt have lost the pram.....

Sky - you obviously dont have any children! My heart goes out to that poor woman. You only need to look away for a second or 2 and we are ALL human

Bjaye you are obviously more stupid than i thought....I have 2 children but not stupid enough to let go of my babies pram when 1 its windy and 2 im next to a train track......and I would have always applied the brakes....thats what they are there for!! and if your pram/buggy is faulty then i would replace it.
