Craft corner: Making a Valentine's Card
Filed under: Love & sex, Fun & activities
Valentine's Day is traditionally an event for adults, but with many children experiencing their first crush, it's not uncommon for children to want to get involved in Valentine's day too.
That's not to mean they, or more likely you, should have to splash out an extravagant amount on a gift for them to give. A simple handmade card will do the job, and thankfully, the Internet is filled with various tutorials for making simple and easy cards.
The glittery heart cards on the right are from Activity Village, and you can follow the step by step instructions here.
Have a look at the tutorials below for more inspiration.
This clever card on the left does include an element of gift giving, but a packet of seeds is a cheap addition to a fun card, especially if you can get them from your own garden.
The Plant One on Me card is from Disney's Family Fun site. All you'll need is a selection of card in different colours, double-sided tape, marker and the packet of seeds.
Here's how to make it:
1. Cut a pot shape from folded terra-cotta-colored card stock.
2. Add a flowery message to a packet of seeds and transplant it with double-sided tape to the card-stock pot.
3. Add your message to the inside
The nice thing about this card is that it's adaptable to various situations, and it can be given in friendship as well as to a crush.
