ParentDish UK goes to E3 Los Angeles
Filed under: Places to go / holidays
Next week the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) launches in Los Angeles. It's the world's biggest show for computer and video games, where games companies gather to launch their latest products.
And when you see E3 reported in the news over the next week, amongst all those game geeks, look for a slightly confused mother of two wandering around in the background. If she looks like she's not sure who's picking up the kids today, that will be me.
Yes, ParentDish UK is travelling stateside to bring you all the latest news on the games your family will be playing later in the year.
I'm travelling with Disney Interactive Studios to get a sneak peek at some of their latest games. We'll be amongst the first to see Epic Mickey, a spectacular new Mickey Mouse platform/role play game, and Toy Story 3 – I'll be seeing the game and the film so will bring you news of this ahead of its July release.
But the game I'm really excited about seeing is Tron. Do you remember Tron, the classic 1980's film starring Jeff Bridges as a hacker who gets trapped in a digital world? A sequel, Tron: Legacy is due out later this year, and I'll be checking out the game that goes with it.
At E3 I'll have a close encounter with Project Natal, a new concept from Xbox which means you can play games without using a handheld controller. Remember how your kids nagged you for a Wii? This is the next thing they'll be pestering you for, so I'm going to take a look and report back whether it's worth investing in.
I'll also be spending a day at Disneyland in LA, so if you're thinking about taking your family there I'll let you know how it compares with Disneyland Paris.
Some UK parent bloggers will also be making the trip – Not Supermum is getting very excited already.
Do you and your children like to play video games? Any questions you want me to put to the games industry? Are you going to E3 too? Leave a comment below
