Last Christmas, were you one of those parents who was scouring toy shops, ebay and bins for those elusive GoGo Hamsters?

So to avoid the same stress this year, let's take a look at what might be be the most popular sell-out toys of Christmas 2010.

This year GoGo Hamsters are now known as Zhu Zhu Pets. Leading the range are the Kung Zhu Pets, which we reviewed here. They're a fun bunch, and it's worth investing in some extra armour, as this will release more sounds from your hamster.

There's practically a menagerie of toy pets out there. I love the tiny puppy and kitten FurReal Snuggimals - terrible name, but an awfully cute toy, and a bargain at around £8.

But the big toy story of this Christmas is (unsurprisingly) Toy Story 3. Don't hang around if you're thinking of getting a Lotso Huggin' Bear - this strawberry scented fella is proving so popular that some stores are sold out already, with only the largest £40 model left. The Disney Store is a good place to start if you're after TS3 toys, as they have a good range of exclusive stuff not available elsewhere. Toys R Us have Lotso at £34.97, but this is for pre-order, with stock only arriving in mid-November.

Another sell-out earlier this year was Doctor Who's new green light sonic screwdriver - new stocks are now in shops, but don't hang around if your little timelord wants one of these. Asda have it for £14.97.

Lego told me that their biggest selling range is expected to be Harry Potter - with the new film about to be released, this whole range will get a boost. Look out for the Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts Game - it's got the most adorable teeny weeny little figures of Harry and his pals. Shop smart and get it before the film comes out. Suitable for age 8 and over, 2-4 players, priced around £25. More info on this here.

Sylvanian Families are a safe bet for girls aged 4 and over - the sweetest little meerkat family has joined the gang this year. And for girls with attitude who like dolls with a difference, check out the Monster High Dolls range here.

If your child has been entranced by the rubber band bracelet craze that's swept UK schools this term, there's an infinitely cooler version about to be released - Moshi Monsters Bandz. Or there's the craft set Zubber, which lets you make your own bracelets.

And if the thought of all those toys gives you a headache, here's how to get them out of your sight: Trunki, the ride on suitcase people, have produced a travelling toy storage box, available from Amazon at £18.99. Perfect for when you're visiting family at Christmas. If you get more than one, they can be clipped together to form a Trunki train. Available in pink or blue, this is the only toy box you can ride around the room.
