The last straw with teenagers

I know we've all been there, and all that, but todays stroppy, know it all, computer and phone addicted, and often aggressive teenagers, with their selfish " I'll do what I want " attitude, make me sick, there's a serious lack of respect for other people and their property, I realise they are not all like it, but a lot of them are a damn site worse now, then when I was growing up, drug taking, stabbings, burglaries, car vandalism, beating up pensioners, etc etc.

lindy2447 where in the world was this utopia ,I have travelled around abit and the standard of behavour of our Europian counterparts is frankly disgraceful most of these people think thier sh8t does not stink and have total disregard of the existance of anyone else. Back to the point: The teenage years are really a form of illness you cant describe it as anything else, the only thing you can do as a parent is lay down boundaries and watch your lovely child break them! . But you have to remain consistant, while wondering where did that lovely child go with the faint knowledge that it will pass and you will be able to have a 5 word conversation with them without some temper tantrum/emotional breakdown if or when they reach 20 ish. For most of us who can look back , our teenage years were a little bit hazy and confusing . just think one night of pleasure, a lifetime of worry ,pain with a dash of happiness. You are warned.

I'm 30, and have to say this list is the most poor collection of "last straws".... If your kid is addicted to crack or a criminal, then you can complain.

Leaving the house untidy... shock horror.

Teenagers! Ditch your whinging parents. Move out, get a job, and pay your own bills - while you still know everything.

Kids nowadays are developing a lot quicker especially the girls. The big A attitude seems to develope alot earlier. In my experience around 10-11 years old. All things are important, younger siblings in their face. The right to be more independent, walking to school with their friends. Staying over at friends houses, having a boyfriend that is COOL, no matter what you think. thinking money comes out of thin air. Believing a sibling that is younger gets treated differently. Peer pressure, "She is allowed out later than me its unfair, I hate you." Then a short time later, "Mam can I have £5.00 to go to the cinema?" When grounding someone means nothing. My grand daughter recently said to my daughter, "And what are you going to do, you can't touch me or do anything my teacher said its abuse and I have the right to report you." On two occasions she did, nothing happened of course but her attention seeking was the key. I have two at 11 years old who both act the same, in every way.

If you teenagers are reading these comments, please make the most of your younger years boys and girls,(oops sorry! i gotta says guys how days Ha Ha!), you will look back in years to come and see what i mean i hope!

Teens dont appreciate things till they get older! I was a teenager 40 years ago, and i was a bugger like most are now days! Well done my dad! You taught me how to be respectful and honest as years went by! Although you are dead now dad, i totally agree now days with the way you got me to be a better teenager! God bless you!

We have two boys(men) and if we could we would have had a dozen, they bought so much joy and love into our life, and now we have two beautiful grandchildren, Only problem we can see is we want more .And discipline works, that does not mean hitting it means saying something once and the second time both of you need to stick to the punishment , children need to know there will be consequences if they are naughty.
