It's the stuff of dreams for most eight-year-old boys - an unlimited supply of toys to test, play with and pass judgement on. And for James Childs, the dream has become a reality, as he has landed possibly the coolest job on earth: toy tester for Bandai, the brand behind the Ben 10 action figures.
In his role, James will put each new Ben 10 figure through vigorous testing before it goes on sale, and will suggest new products for the line.
His monthly salary will be paid in Ben 10 toys.
James landed the plum role after entering a competition run by the manufacturer. In his entry, he had to write a compelling letter of application detailing why he was perfect for the job. James sent in a series of drawings and a poem.
His dad Wayne said the position will mean a lot to James: 'Having the opportunity to video review the Ben 10 toys as they are released this year will help James with his dyslexia, and also boost his confidence.'
The youngster has shared his first 'wage packet' with a local primary school to use in a literacy and art competition, and donated some of his haul to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital Children's Ward.
What a lovely story. What would have been your dream job as a child?
