Even Domestic Goddess Nigella Lawson's culinary creations aren't appreciated by her family. At the Hay Festival, she told of an occasion when she served husband Charles Saatchi a plate of prawn curry.
"He ate it all and at the very end he said, 'That was the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten. I wouldn't have said anything but I was so frightened you were going to give it to me again'
"He says there is nothing I could cook that could compare favourably with Weetabix."
What a relief to know even a TV and cook book cook doesn't get the love she deserves. My dad used to end meals with "I can safely say I never want to have that again". While a friend recently told how she insists her teen sons must take longer eating food than she took cooking it - cue long, weary meals.
