Boy who returned to school as a girl speaks out

Ten-year-old Livvy James hit the headlines when she left school for the summer as a boy and returned as a girl after being diagnosed with gender dysphoria.

Livvy and her mum, Saffron and dad, Phillip have spoken about Livvy's situation, appearing on This Morning to discuss her experience.

With a passion for pink, Livvy dressed in a heart print jumper and sparkly jewellery for her interview, sitting with her mum and dad to bravely talk about coming to terms with gender dysphoria.

The 10-year-old said she was happy not to have to pretend anyone, and was glad that, at first, most people were accepting of her change.
However this changed when some parents went to their local newspapers about her story after they learnt Livvy's headteacher had held a special assembly to explain that Livvy, who was previously called Samuel, was a now a girl, and Livvy's story went global.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Livvy said she was excited to head back to school as girl, finally feeling comfortable:

'Walking to school on my first day back, I was nervous and excited, but most of all I just felt like shouting 'Yeay!'

'I was so excited that I didn't care what people thought about me. Even if people looked at me or were saying nasty things, I didn't care. I felt happy because I could be me and didn't have to pretend any more.'
