An eight-month-old baby boy died after being left in a scorching hot car for hours on end just steps away from his home.
The coroner has ruled his death was an accident after his father forgot to drop his baby off at day care in Louisville, Kentucky.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Jo-Ann Farmer said that Lincoln Lindsay was pronounced dead at 6:17 p.m. on Monday and the cause of death was complications of environmental exposure to ambient heat inside a closed car.
The names of the parents have not been released because they haven't been charged.
The boy was found by one of his parents, still strapped to his car seat. The car was parked outside their home in their Louisville, Kentucky. Temperatures during the day had hit the 90s.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

June 30 2012 at 8:54 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyI went to pick up my eldest daughter from school once and completely forgot I had my youngest daughter (who was about 4 months old at the time) in the car with me. I didn't even realise until I got back to the car and saw her fast asleep in her seat. She'd only been left for about 5 minutes but I felt sick thinking about what could've happened to her in that time. I hadn't even locked the car. These things are easily done but I don't understand how you forget your child for that long a period of time.

If the car was parked in the driveway it means he was at home that day...so he didnt have much to do.
I dont see how anyone could forget a baby.
Ive heard lots of stories of 'forgotten' babies, when he was with his ex my boyfriend but his baby son who was in his little car seat on top of the car roof while he went round to unlock the other doors... then got in the car and drove off. Luckily he saw the mum running down the road waving her arms at the car and screaming that the baby was still on the roof (Ive never let him put our baby in the car unattended!) but to forget your baby for an ENTIRE day?? And when I unpack my shopping ect I can clearly hear her screaming in the car whenever I am in the house!

June 21 2012 at 6:51 AM Report abuse Permalink -12 rate up rate down ReplyNot a helpful reply. Killing the parents wouldn't help anybody and would see you in prison.
June 21 2012 at 8:14 AM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down ReplyI can't imagine how you could conceivably forget about your own child being in the car either. Bizarre and obviously very tragic
June 21 2012 at 6:11 AM Report abuse Permalink +3 rate up rate down ReplyInteresting that most of the comments are not as vehement as those posted when a police dog was left in a hot car for a couple of hours! And there are nowhere near as many of them either.

June 21 2012 at 4:22 AM Report abuse Permalink -9 rate up rate down ReplyI am far from being perfect, but can categorically say this would never happen to me irrespective of how preoccupied I am.
June 21 2012 at 6:13 AM Report abuse Permalink +6 rate up rate down ReplySorry, I agree with dannigab. You don't know all the circumstances the family were in at the time. I'm not saying their not responsible but life does have a habit of making people do things they wouldn't normally do. They will probably punish themselves more that anyone else can ever do.
