Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes divorce in super-quick time for the sake of Suri (or is there more to it?)

Any couple who has gone through the pain and struggle of a divorce – especially when children are involved - will have raised their eyebrows when Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes announced they had reached a divorce settlement with super-quick speed this week.
After all, it was just a fortnight ago that the Hollywood couple revealed they had parted company after five years of marriage.
So have Tom-Kat set a new standard for civilised separations in which the interests of the child, or children, really are put first?
No-one but the parting couple (and their laywers) know what the terms of their agreement are, but according to both parties, their parting is amicable because they have put their six-year-old daughter Suri's welfare and happiness at the centre of everything.
"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests," the couple told E! News in a statement.
We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents.

According to New York family lawyer Bettina Hindin, Tom and Katie, 33, settled so quickly because 'cooler heads prevailed and they decided to do the right thing for their child'.
Or, she said, there may be something out there that one party knows and the other doesn't want anyone to know 'so they moved quickly to keep everything under a big canopy'.
What's more, don't expect new details of this marriage or divorce to leak out.
Confidentiality agreements are usually pretty standard in a settlement with high-powered clients, said Hindin.
"Settlement agreements involving celebrity people or of high net worth have a confidentiality clause in them," she said.
"And the confidentiality clause is usually very broad so that they can't give interviews, they can't write books, they can't write books in a non-fiction way that is really about themselves.
"It is really an open-ended clause that would protect both of them."
Whatever the real reason for TomKat's amicable split, only they can know. Let's hope it all works out for the best for the person who really matters – Suri.
Suri Cruise: Her shoe style
- Party girl<p> Suri’s found a pair of real <a href="http://www.parentdish.co.uk/2011/04/06/suri-cruise-birthday-13-000-circus-party/" target="_blank">party</a> shoes in these fancy gold T-bar sandals, and, never one to not get value from her wardrobe, these made quite a few appearances before, naturally, Suri out grew them.</p>

- Out with the old, and in with the new<p> Ditching gold for silver, Suri squeezes her feet into another pair of heels for a day out. Looks like mum took the easy option of comfy flats for the pair’s walkabout though.</p>

- Heels on the beach<p> The little lady recently hit the <a href="http://www.parentdish.co.uk/2011/05/31/suri-cruise-steps-out-in-heels-on-the-beach/" target="_blank">beach </a>for a day with her mum, but forgot her flip flops! Instead she tackled the sand in these, gorgeous, but completely impractical, gold heels, complete with party dress, of course.</p>

- Suri in slippers<p> Ditching the heels, if only for one night only, Suri looks ready for bed in these fantastic pig slippers. Great to see her wearing something fun rather than so grown up. Didn’t fancy joining her, Katie?</p>

- Flower power<p> Never one to be a wall erm, flower, Suri turned heads when she stepped out a pair of floral slip-on heels, colour clashing brilliantly with a pink heart print dress and stylish mac.</p>

- Not a good look<p> Not as bad as socks and sandals, but these thick socks and dainty pumps don’t quite work, especially on such tiny tootsies. Lost your fashionista style already, Suri?</p>

- Comfort at last<p> Hurrah! Suri’s discovered comfort. Here she is, finally, in flat, comfy boots. Clearly she doesn’t want to get those booties dirty though, opting for a carry instead…</p>

- Ballerina beauty<p> Off to dance class? Nope, just a fancy tutu and ballet pump combo to battle the New York rain. Hey, at least she’s got a brolly, right?</p>

- Grrrrrrrreat choice!<p> Loving the leopard print on this pair, and there’s not a heel in sight!</p>

- Dad, I need you!<p> Looks like the stacked heels got a little too much for sleepy Suri. Luckily Tom’s on hand to scoop her, and her heels up for a carry.</p>
