Little girl to have operation to remove volleyball-sized tumour on arm

A five-year-old girl had been hospitalised in China after a swelling on her arm reached the size of a volleyball.

The tumour started to grow on Fu Lin's arm last December after she suffered an accident at school.

Doctors thought she had broken the limb after falling over, but just after the accident it began to swell, eventually growing as big as a volleyball.

Fu was then diagnosed with osteosarcoma - a rare bone tumour which can occur in adolescence and during rapid periods of growth.

The family has now received more than 60,000 Yuan in public donations, which is enough to operate to remove the tumour and give little Fu the use of her arm back.
