Does Page 3 hurt your daughter?

Reality shows and WAGS are more of a negative influence on young girls than page 3. Most girls seem to associate with the TOWIE girls,Jersey Girls or the Kardashians. They don't realise that some of those women do actually work, all they see is all the clothes,make up,parties and money.

I assume similarquestions have been directed at Paul Dacre regarding the Mail online content? On there you can see any number of girls wearing next to nothing, some are even over 16! Kettle, saucepan anyone ?

The Sun is a scummy news paper, the only piece of honest news in it is Page 3...

I would say the music and television industry is much more of an external influence than a "newspaper" page. Kids don't read papers even if it is a comic book like The Sun. They do however have extensive access to the music industry that perpetuates a particular standard of appearance (and sub-standard music but that's a separate issue) and the television industry that perpetuates a pattern maintenance regarding stereotypes (TOWIE, Geordie Shore, Big Brother, X Factor the list goes on). Let kids be kids and just ensure what they do and do not have access to. They'll resent you for a while for being apparently strict but they'll grow up at a more sensible rate and come to learn why you did what you did. In matters such as these you have to be cruel to be kind and suck up the twinge of temporary resentment. All kids say at some point "I hate you." May as well get used to it because the "I love yous" will come as well.

Have these people never heard of the internet? Kids are getting far more than women's breasts on the smart phones, let alone on their computers. The Sun is a rubbish paper read by a certain element of the public, usually geezers and people in the working trade. Nothing wrong with that, but other men prefer to read a paper for news rather than for salacious gossip and a pair of breasts - although the sports section is quite good in the Sun, I have to admit.

It will only hurt them if you roll it up and hit them with it!

Why dont parents try telling young girls and teenagers that although not an ideal career choice for most it is just that, a career choice. Those women who CHOOSE to appear naked have been empowered by feminism. But hold on, are we saying feminism and having the freedom to choose our own careers only applies to women who wish to work in an office etc. Are we women so empowered now that we think we have the right to dictate to other women what they can or can't do?! If its legal ce la vi.
P.S any family buying the sun, daily sport, mirror etc surley arent interested in real news anyhow! if you don't want to spend money on a broad sheet but the i newspaper, it has all the news without nudity!

it's been going long enough, did it harm you?

this is strange, i wonder if we should direct these comments on the following things that might effect your children, Family arguements many with violence, heavy drinking and smoking at home, single parent families mixed race seem to have more problems than most, poor education help from the family, families who spend there lives on benefits and encourage there children to do the same, very poor diets because mum or dad cannot be bothered to cook, letting children roam the streets at long past there bedtime, stoping your children going to so called unis to obtain pointless degrees with little chance of a job, the list is endless the girls who do page three well there usually failed moels who have not quite got it. On this basis you wouldn"t even go to a beach on hoilday. Page 3 is outdated and boring but there are a mountain of problems that should be dealt with which are far more important than this Reality check for Lucy ann homes There you go Lucy your name printed again are you seeking the same attention as these young ladies ?

The Sun isnt a newspaper but the use of Page 3 always makes me a bit sad. That these pretty girls who presumably have verying degrees of intelligence can think of nothing better to do that whip their tops off so that they can be ogled, is a tragic waste of a life's ambition. The fact that they are always very young and naive makes it sadder. It's a poor way to portray women and girls. Men have a hard enough time understanding women anyway, this type of image can't help.
