NINE-year-old girl gives birth to a baby daughter

A nine-year-old girl has given birth in Mexico after falling pregnant at the age of eight.

The child's mum told the authorities in Jalisco state that the baby's father is a 17-year-old youth who has now 'run away'.

The little girl, Dafne, delivered her baby daughter in hospital on January 27th. The newborn weighed in at 5.7lbs and both she and her mum are said to be 'doing well'.

The Telegraph reports that the hospital will have to do 'extensive follow-up' checks on Dafne because of her age.

The state prosecutors' office is now hunting down the father of the baby.

"We are looking for the young man to get his story because she does not understand what has happened. This is a rape or child sex abuse case," said officer Jorge Villasenor.

Err, this story is old and it was shown that the facts are wrong. The girl was actually 12 (not that this is good either but a lot better than 9 which is crazy). Just a heads up.

A dna is needed on this matter, something does not feel right. The poor child and baby.

Of course it's rape and child abuse and the parents need to be investigated. I think that there should be DNA tests on all the men in that family and the baby. The reporter does raise some relevant questions.

the reporter is 100% correct this is of coarse a case of child abuse and im so glad the baby and the child are ok now but this seriously needs sorting out the guy needs finding and some sort of help for the 9 year old needs to be put in place

I'm not surprised that the father has "Run away." Let's hope that the cops can run faster than him.
No one could mistake an eight year old girl for one of whatever the legal age is in Brazil.

I have been reading everyones comments on here some are just plain stupid and there are others who are genuinely worried for the poor girls welfare but please let us not judge we do not know the whole truth do we.
Perhaps it is just a sick hoax that would be the best outcome as there would be no poor child involved.
Its a very sad state of affairs when children can no longer go out and play or have an innocent childhood.
I remember as a child playing in the fields living out in the country with not a care in the world alas those days have past and children are no longer safe to play out.
Lets hope the world changes for the better soon !!!!!

what was the mother doing while the daughter was having sex or being raped? was it a family member? i know exactly where my kids are and they are a lot older, this guy and her mother need to be questioned more, then shot, end of!
