Meet the Avengers
- Black Widow
AKA: Natasha Romanoff

Played by: Scarlett Johansson

The only female in the group, Black Widow has no god-like powers, billion dollar suits of armor or a scarily strong alter-ego to fight the bad guys with. But that doesn't mean she's not as tough as the rest of her testosterone-filled team. With an extraordinary talent for subtle interrogation, Black Widow is a femme fatale superspy, one of director Fury’s top agents and plays an integral part in assembling The Avengers.

- Captain America
AKA: Steve Rogers

Played by: Chris Evans

A living legend, Captain America became a powerhouse hero after taking part a top secret Super-Soldier program during WWII. After crashing into the Arctic on his return from his final mission, Steve spent decades frozen in the ice until he was found and awoken by S.H.I.E.L.D. Now, he finds himself alone in a modern world that he hardly recognises. But when the Captain is called up to save the world again, nothing can stop him from picking up his iconic shield and leading The Avengers to victory.

- Hawkeye
AKA: Clint Barton

Played by: Jeremy Renner

When it comes to a bow and arrow, Hawkeye could teach Legolas a thing or two. He’s the world’s greatest archer, with the attitude and ego to match his talent. The sharp shooting Avenger was the S.H.I.E.L.D agent to bring Black Widow into the fold, and like his protégé, Hawkeye has no super powers. But that hasn’t stopped him being a vital member of the team.

- Hulk
AKA: Dr. Bruce Banner

Played by: Mark Ruffalo

After a gamma radiation experiment goes wrong, mild-mannered scientist Dr. Bruce Banner finds that when angered, he transforms into the uncontrollable, green-skinned monster known as the Hulk. Scared of the destructive Hulk waiting to break out, Bruce hides himself away in India to care for the sick and needy. But soon enough, S.H.E.I.L.D are there to ask for his help, where Bruce’s specialized scientific expertise are needed just as much as his aggressive alter-ego.

- Iron Man
AKA: Tony Stark

Played by: Robert Downey Jnr

An eccentric genius, billionaire playboy and philanthropist, Tony Stark is also the armoured super hero known as Iron Man. After agreeing to serve as a consultant to S.H.I.E.L.D., Stark manages to antagonise nearly all of his heroic counterparts. But with a global crisis on the horizon, Tony must put his ego aside, power up, and become a fully-fledged member of The Avengers.

- Nick Fury
AKA: Colonel Nicholas Joseph

Played by: Samuel L. Jackson

He’s popped up in Thor, The Incredible Hulk and both Iron Man films, but in this blockbuster we get to see the ultimate spymaster get in on the action. As the Director of S.H.E.I.L.D. Nick Fury’s the guy in charge of uniting the superheroes to battle everything from villains, aliens, mutants and gods. He’s got no powers to speak of, but Nick will unleash his fury on any hero or villain who threatens this planet.

- Thor
AKA: Thor Odinson

Played by: Chris Hemsworth

The God of Thunder from the immortal realm of Asgard, Thor returns to Earth as its Protector to join the fight against his half-brother Loki’s attempts to take over the world. Like Captain America, he doesn’t often get the references made by his 21st Century human teammates, but with the power of Mjolnir (his legendary hammer of strength) Thor is a near-indestructible force you definitely want on your side in a fight.
