Danielle Lloyd glams up baby bump for award show

Mum buys, ParentView

Danielle Lloyd knows exactly how to dress her bump in style with this clingy vibrant red number. The radiant mother is due to give birth to her first child in July with fiance footballer Jamie O'Hara.

Danielle was spotted in this dress (which looks very much like the Ruched One Shoulder Dress from Isabella Oliver) at the She Inspiring Women awards, which honours women whose work has been life-changing. Red is traditionally a confident colour choice, as it'll set anyone out from the crowd.

Funnily enough, before venturing out to the awards, Danielle spent some time fretting over her outfit choice, tweeting "Love getting glammed up for events but finding it hard to find the perfect dress to fit my bump!"

Fancy stealing a bit of Ms Lloyd's style and trying a bit of lady in red glamour? Here are a few of our favourite maternity options.

Buying a capsule maternity wardrobe

Mum buys

Whilst many mothers-to-be might be revelling in the opportunity to go on a spending spree for maternity wear, an equal number dread the idea of trudging the high street for expanding waist trousers and empire line dresses whilst battling morning sickness and frequent toilet breaks.

One way of avoiding the constant shopping for your growing bump is to purchase multi-purpose pieces. Wrap dresses are adjustable to cover your bump, lycra vests are a staple that can be worn under anything to provide you with a bit of support and jeans with a stretchy panel will seriously reduce the amount of shopping you'll need to do.

This 6-Way Maternity Dress on the right is an excellent investment for new mothers. The dress can be twisted, wrapped and folded into six different dresses for night and day. So you can wear it as a strapless dress for those heated days, a halterneck or one shouldered dress for evening dos, crossover or cap sleeve (see right) for day to day, and you can even turn it into a longer skirt.

The dress is from Cecily Plum, and is only £79, a bargain considering you're getting six outfits for that amount.

What do you think of the dress? You can check out the alternative ways to wear it below.

Four floral maternity dresses for the spring

Mum buys

To commemorate the start of March yesterday the sun finally made an appearance. It might still be chilly, but it's time to step away from the thick, wooly maternity basics, and pick up a pretty spring maternity dress to see you through the next few months.

Dresses can often be looser, and therefore more comfortable, for those in the latter months of pregnancy. Dresses like this Floral Tea Dress from the Vintage Belle section of Mamas & Papas (£40) can be adapted throughout the seasons with the addition of a cardigan, leggings and boots for the winter, and flips flops and a sun hat for the warmer months.

Buy a pretty floral dress, and you can't help but get a little bit in the summery mood.

Maternity Wear: Christmas Party Dress

Mum buys

Ah the joys of shopping for the perfect party dress. They're either too long, too short, too frumpy or just too high fashion. The hell of shopping for a party dress trebles when you're pregnant, and have to pick up something for the work Christmas party. So what can you do to find the perfect dress that fits you and your bump?

First off, don't go out this week and attempt to buy something in the shops. You're asking for trouble, battling against a mass of angry, desperate Christmas shoppers. Frankly, that's the last thing you need when you're pregnant.

Instead, grab your laptop and get ready to double-click your way to the perfect Christmas party maternity outfit. Peace, quiet and a cup of tea permanently at your side!

The Lurex Stripe dress (£45) on the right is from Topshop's Maternity range, and offers just the right amount of glitter to fit in with the festive celebrations without looking like a Christmas tree.

The best LBMD: Little Black Maternity Dresses

Mum buys, ParentView

Technically speaking, it's probably the wrong time of the year to be discussing little black dresses. The classic LBD is primarily a dress suited to colder weather and darker evenings, and relegated to the back of the wardrobe for it's shorter, floral cousin during the summer months.

Except summer hasn't really materialised this year. Which gives me a great excuse to browse for some more little black dresses! Luckily, the shops are full of some great LBDs, and some even better LBMDs (Little Black Maternity Dresses). This Maternity Lace Dress (right) is £38 from ASOS.com, and is very on trend with the lace detail and shift dress shape.

How to solve a maternity wedding outfit dilemma

Just for mums, Pregnancy & birth, Maternity dresses, Mum buys

Lordy Lordy, I have another wedding coming up, in mid-August, when I'll be 26-ish weeks pregnant. It's my first pregnancy and I have no idea what shape or size I'll be come that point, what mood I'll be in, how tanned my legs will have got, how I'll cope with the family without drinking or whether I'll be nice to my boyfriend that day.

It's a serious challenge.

What's plaguing me most right now is what on earth to wear. I don't own much by way of wedding outfits anyway, and what I do have will now fit my right thigh, and that's about it. No options in my wardrobe, apart from my dressing gown, which could double as a Dianne Von Furstenberg wrap dress. That's if Diane Von Furstenberg made wrap dresses in grey towelling.

Buy something new, I hear you cry. Well, I would, only the chances are I'll wear it only once. How likely am I to be going to a wedding at the same time of year when I'm 26-ish weeks pregnant next time? Borrow something? Well, I would, only I don't know many women with tummies the size of footballs and big wedding outfit selections. I'm flummoxed.
